2015 New Year's Eve fireworks plan for Las Vegas

More than 80,000 pyrotechnic devices will start shooting from seven rooftops along the Las Vegas Strip on New Year's Eve as the city rings in 2015.

Officials took to a casino rooftop lounge Thursday to say midnight fireworks over the Las Vegas Strip will begin with a 10-second pyrotechnic countdown from the Stratosphere tower, the tallest structure in town.

“More than 340,000 visitors will ring in the New Year in Las Vegas because they know there is no better place to be,” said LVCVA Chairman and Clark County Commissioner Tom Collins. “Vegas is the perfect setting for America's Party, on New Year's Eve, and we're ready for another world-class celebration.”

The performance will last 7 minutes and 11 seconds as the clock counts down to midnight. The show by Fireworks by Grucci will be set to music and fired from atop the MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island (TI), Venetian and Stratosphere resorts.

“We are going to welcome 2015 as only Las Vegas can with parties and fireworks across the city,” Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman said. “From the festive atmosphere out on the Las Vegas Strip to the party under the canopy on the Fremont Street Experience and the vintage Vegas vibe of the Fremont East Entertainment District, Las Vegas is the place to ring in the New Year!”

The downtown Fremont Street Experience pedestrian mall will host a separate block party for ticket-buyers featuring live bands and a canopy video fireworks display. Admission to the Downtown Countdown is $30 per person when purchased by Dec. 26, after that, tickets cost $40 per person.
