Patrick, who is the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver, is technically a Kennedy and Maria reportedly told her son it wasn't "appropriate" to have the Bangerz star over for Christmas dinner.
Perhaps she's worried Miley will start twerking around the turkey.
An insider reportedly told Life & Style magazine: "She doesn't think it's appropriate to have Miley around the rest of the Kennedy family.
"Patrick insists on having her there - or he will not come. They've been talking less and less. Every time they do talk, it ends up in an argument where Patrick is defending Miley."
The young lovers - who are believed to have started dating in October - have been seen enjoying themselves at parties and seem to have a great time together.
It is thought Maria became concerned after viewing some photos of Miley on a bucking bronco shaped like a manhood at the beauty's 22nd birthday party last month.
But when it comes to partying, Patrick is apparently more hardcore than the Wrecking Ball superstar, according to his pal Cody Simpson.
The Aussie singer quashed claims Miley was a bad influence on his friend, saying: "We met through a friend's party and stuff, he's such a blast. He's a good bloke."
When asked who is the most hard core out of the new couple the 17-year-old told TMZ: "Honestly, Pat. Every time I see him we have such a good time."
